Maria Kilgore is new to the triathlon world as of 2014 with two Ironmans and three half distances under her belt. She is accomplished in her racing having placed 12th and 11th in Ironman, 1st in her age group and 3rd female overall at Bayshore 70.4 and 2nd in her age group at Lifetime Tempe Tri and Mountain Man. She is currently an ambassador for Eagle Bicycles and XX2i Optics.
Prior to triathlons, Maria has always been a recreational runner to enjoy the company of friends. She really enjoys getting others excited about their goals and accomplishments and loves helping them get there. The root of her purpose stems from living a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle to honor those that inspire her to challenge herself and be the best version of herself.
Family, friends and #mugmoods are key in Maria’s journey to live a fun-filled and active life, while continuously pursuing adventure and helping and inspiring those around her. She wouldn’t have such passion and drive for triathlons if it wasn’t for her motivating coach and teammates of the Landis Tri Club.
Maria is currently a physical therapy technician pursuing admittance to a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program and a distributor for Advocare nutrition products. She is a Landis Tri Club Board member with a current focus on increasing membership to the club. She has recently become a USAT certified coach and has a passion working with new athletes like herself. She wants to coach athletes that ask lots of questions so that they can learn together what best suits her athletes.
Her philosophy in training includes a solid base in strength along with a mix of high intensity intervals and low heart rate training.
Anthony Romania is licensed mechanical engineer, Father of two, licensed general contractor, USAT certified coach, F.I.S.T bike fitter, accomplished triathlete and accomplished Ironman. He is a founding board member of the Landis Tri club and the current president of the Landis Tri Club.
He has been actively pursuing triathlon since 1987 having completed over 275 multi-sport events and is a 22 time Ironman!!!
Even before he became certified by USAT as a coach and certified as a Bike fitter, he was always helping others be more efficient in the water, climb better and faster on the bike, and run longer and faster. He takes a personal involvement with each and every athlete and wants to see them regularly during the week. He does not do plan only by email. He feels that not seeing the person is a negative impact on the coaching experience. He has been known to send athletes home due to illness, lack of heart response to activity, the look on their faces or their eyes. IN the end, they all thanked him for doing so even though they were mad at him at the moment. He truly cares for each individuals well-being.
He became certified as a USAT coach in 2011 and became certified as a bike fitter in 2012. He has taken numerous courses on cycling with power, video analysis for all sports, bike handling skills, swimming skills, running skills, trainer workouts, workout periodization, nutrition and many more. He has also taken several bike fitting courses for tri and road bikes.
As a preference, he loves to coach first timers and beginners for sprint and Olympic distances events. His specialty is long course coaching from anything Olympic to ultra-ironman events.
His philosophy is a mixture of high intensity intervals and long slow distance workouts. He is a firm believer in using both heart rate and power for training.
